Chief Instructor James Carr began his martial arts training at the age of 12. Under the tutelage of a family friend, he was introduced to Shaolin Kung Fu. This early training would lay the foundation for his lifelong passion of martial arts. At the age of 17, James traveled cross country to California and began training in San Soo Kung Fu. The street oriented fighting of San Soo gave a reality to the techniques he found so intriguing. This was also the beginning of his interest in the philosophical and spiritual aspects of martial arts and life.

James continued to travel and broaden his exposure to various martial arts, eventually settling in Washington. His passion and growth in the arts eventually lead to the next step - a desire to pass his knowledge to others. Helping others grow to their potential became the paramount theme in his teaching, and is evident in the classes he leads.

James opened his first school in Issaquah , WA in 1998 and continues to teach a blend of traditional martial arts focused on practical application. His personal training never to be hindered, he has traveled to China and Japan and continues expanding his knowledge of martial arts and the pursuit of self-actualization.
